Below are artifacts that were crafted by indigenous people know to have inhabited the Mansfield area. These artifacts are part of the Mansfield Historical Society’s permanent collection. Each image can be clicked on to view in greater detail.
This arrowhead was found in 1997 near the Eastbrook Heights condominiums by Alex Krause. It can’t be determined whether it was found in its original location or brought in from outside with imported fill. It was donated on behalf of Alex Krause by Richard Kokoska. Four projectile points found on the west side of Route 195 near the intersection with Clover Mill Road, donated by Ruth and Charles Coogan. A – projectile point, bifacial, not notched, flint-like wth inclusions; B – projectile point, bifacial, not notched, flint-like, thin blade; C – projectile point, bifacial, not notched, dark quartzite; D – small projectile point, bifacial, 1 notch, white quartzite; E & F – small stone tools, white quartzite. Believed to be from the Woodland Period. Found in Mansfield Center and donated by Hugh and Betsy Hamill.
