Come join us for a special tour of the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry. Sometimes we overlook the wonderful resources in our own backyard! Led by a staff educator, we will view the permanent puppet exhibit and learn more about the remarkable career of Frank Ballard, founder of the renowned Puppet Arts program at UConn. There is also a special exhibit, Taking Care: Puppets and Their Collectors, curated by Dr. Jungmin Song, that showcases more highlights of the collections including 1930s marionettes, Sicilian pupi, Chinese shadow figures, African rod puppets, overhead projector innovations, and Frank Ballard musicals, along with backstories explaining how this global array of puppets came to the Ballard Institute.
